How I made it (epi.3)

Did you miss the previous episodes? Don’t worry, get them here.

“Good morning, can you come to Huduma Hospital as soon as possible.” Before I could enquire who was on the call, he hanged up. It was a strange voice and from it I could tell all was not well. I new without doubt that something bad may have happened to Bryan. In a hurry, I took a cab to Huduma Hospital.

When I arrived at the hospital, I was a a bit confused. Should I ask information about patient by the name Bryan? No, I wasn’t sure about Bryan. Just the day before he was well, but not having reported to work left me not knowing whether to ask about him or not. It was a real dilemma!

At the reception, a lady noted my restlessness. “Madam, how can I help you?” I explained my predicaments but to my surprise, there was nobody by the name Bryan in the hospital records. Who could have made the call? What was his intentions? I couldn’t get the answer to any of these. The caller used the landline and so I couldn’t get back to him for more information.

I sat helplessly in a couch that was at the reception not knowing what to do next. As I sank deep into my thoughts, just then, my phone rang. I picked it as first as I could hoping the caller would solve my problem. Anonymous call again! This time, it was a lady. ” Hello, we are sorry to inform you that the patient was in critical condition and so we decided to take him to the National Hospital. Please come as quickly as you can!” My effort to know more didn’t bear any fruits. So, what next? From Huduma Hospital to National Hospital.

Without wasting time, I called another cab and I after thirty minutes I was at the National Hospital. Full of anxiety, I hurried came out of the cab and headed to reception. If it were not for the cab driver who followed me, I couldn’t have remembered to pay him. I approached the receptionist to enquire about the patient. Before he could respond, a lady interrupted, “Hi, are you Tab….” Before she could finish her question, I had already responded, though this was not a common name at the office . “A man had been badly injured by a hit-and-run car. Before he went in a comma, he gave out your number. Right now the doctors are working on him. You will have to wait for some minutes before they are through.” she added.

Waiting there for not less than an hour looked like a whole year to me. So many questions waited for answers. Luckily, after an hour or so of waiting, I was now allowed to see the patient. I was directed to the room and beside him, there was a doctor.

Words alone cannot express what I felt. The body was full of bandages and he lay on the bed unconsciously. Unknowingly, I couldn’t control a scream after seeing him. The accident was terrible! I moved closer to get the intensity of the injuries. His face was halfway covered with bandages. To my surprise, it wasn’t Bryan!… don’t miss the next episode…just follow…. let me know your take on this through the comments. Also read life at the village?…..and…The girl who wished to be a bird.

What I would like to be in the next world…pt 2

Why did Liznet chose a bird for her next life? Catch the story What I would like to be in the next world – pt 1.

The visitors left and Liznet had a lot to tell her mother about her future world. She narrated her story:

In this world, there are so many problems. Children are being kidnapped day in day out. I see you watching news on television and most of the time, what make news is bad things like violence, robbery, war, floods, diseases and more. This is what people find interesting. I am fed up with this kind of life where everyone is scrambling for his or her wellbeing. I would like to have peace, go far away where nobody can get me. And I found all what I needed from a bird as I watched a flock soaring peacefully in the sky. No hatred, no hustle, no panic and no war. That’s why I decided to be a bird in the next life!

Liznet

Her mother looked at her with disbelief. She wondered why her five-year- old girl would be so optimistic on her future life. She had a task ahead…..catch the next part and hear what the mother told her daughter Liznet…. kindly, let me know your take on this through comments….if you come across this, kindly follow... A lot is in store… don’t miss!..Read also Life wasn’t easy at the village! (Part 2)- and enjoy my experience in the country side. Sometimes things becomes tough. What will happen to patients of Covid 19 in Kenya – Ciscasquapro

It is sad that the country cannot support the covid 19 patients in public hospitals and therefore advocating for homecare based therapy. This may be a big task as a number of citizens might not be able to handle the patients. It can also lead to more spread of the virus. If the children are not safe from covid 19, how will it be possible for family members to take care of the victims without the required attire? Remember Impact of Covid 19 on traveling has contributed to so many other challenges. This means that family members cannot travel to visit their sick relatives of whom they are supposed to be taking care of. It is like the pandemic is not leaving us soon. According to how things are going, the numbers of affected people is increasing day by day. And if this continues, Should kenyan students seat for their national exams this year? The irony is, school were closed because of one case of Covid 19, now they are expected to be opened when the number is increasing. With this homecare based treatment, will the parents be able to handle cases of the virus in schools? I think this is an issue that need to be revisited.

Nothing comes on silver platter – Ciscas

It is the nature of human to appreciate success when it knocks. Though somebody said...opportunity strikes only once…..it is everyone’s desire to enjoy it now and then, but mostly, it isn’t just a walk in the park. I loved a statement from one of the blogs I read recently that stated...if it was easy, everybody would be in it…this challenged me if not to inspire. Now I know that having tried is already an achievement. What you need is persistence as per this 10 Ways.. and also see this video on how to reach to your destiny

Is it true that money earned through hard ways is ‘sweeter’ than what you never struggled for?… I am not sure on this… Sometimes life is a bit unfair. One may work so hard yet success is negligible. However, that should not discourage one to move on. You never know what tomorrow has in store. So, keep moving as long as you don’t stop. Sometimes the speed doesn’t matter. If the snail managed to get into Noah’s Ark, play it cool, your destiny is definite, but you must keep it to the truck. As you can see here on Ways to success

What do I mean? Give yourself time to achieve what you want. If it is business or education, just go for it. There are some hurdles on the way, but they may be more of success than destruction. No matter how hard you try to jump over them, some need to be stepped on or knocked down to give you the way. Be patient…Rome was not built in a day…and a journey of hundred miles starts with a step. Keep going girl!..and that’s me!

Most of the learners in some of the developing countries are not gaining from digital migration that is taking place in most part of the world. Like in kenya, children from vulnerable backgrounds cannot afford purchasing smart gadgets leave alone paying for the internet. Moreover, most of the teachers who are supposed to teach the learners using the technology skills are also not well equipped.I am requesting all well wishers to join hands to assist this children and the teachers. The donations received will be used to buy necessary equipment and for teachers facilitation programs.

What every man, father or dad should know- ciscasquapro

Today marks the third Sunday of June which most part of the world recognize and celebrate fathers. I felt that I have to write this few lines on the fathers who leave the family responsibilities to the mothers and disappear from the seen just to come back when children are all grown. They misuse their youthful life only to return home when they have nothing to offer. Have a watch at this video. It is a special dedication to all Fathers.

Others are just there in the house leaving all responsibilities to the mothers. They can’t provide even a pencil to the school going child. They don’t want to work. It’s the duty of the mother to raise children and be the bread winner at the same time. Such fathers should understand that the children are watching and soon they will be grown-ups.

Fathers…remember you are the head of the family

Some are absent fathers only seen when there is curfew directives. Sometimes children see them after a fortnight or so, yet they live in the same house and when they appear, they want to be felt by making sure everyone responds when the cough. They don’t find it important to engage in raising children and they assume the task should be left to mothers only.

We have seen some fathers who don’t bother whether the child is sick or not, school fees is paid or not, took breakfast or not and some left school meetings as a mother- duty – only. They have never attended any school meetings. Not because they are busy, but that is meant for mothers as they say.

When these children grow up, they will recognize their mother more. This is where complains start coming up. Some accuse mothers that they have poisoned the children so much that they never recognize nor respect their father.

Respect is earned…if you need it, then work for it!

I have this message to all Fathers, you might think that participating in bringing up children is not necessary, but you will not escape from the repercussions. You will need these children at your old age, be part of their lives. They will also recognize you as a caring father. Sometimes what they only need is your wise words!

Fathers, money is not everything, your presence matters too.

Be there for your children, whether you have money or not, your love to them means a lot!…and when you grow old, they will not need any introduction to address you. Let us all take part fully in raising our children. The task is not as easy as it may look to be.

Fathers… don’t just father the child…be a Dad too!

8 Challenges that learners experience when using online classes

Though we are saying there is a Better side of staying at home …The directives of the lockdown experienced in most of the countries in the world has interfered with the school calendar. To pasue Education, this has made a good number of students find refuge in online classes.

However this has not been always easy as there are a lot of challenges that learners go through during their online lessons. Some of these challenges are:

  • Lack of internet connection in rural areas.
  • Some parents are not able to meet the extra expenses that come with internet such as paying for home fibre network or buying of bundles.
  • There is disruption when lessons are going on such as; poor internet signals, blackouts due to power failure or lack of a quiet place as classes takes place in the houses where other members are going on with their duties causing background noise and interfering with the learners concentration.
  • Computer illiteracy. Using computers for online classes needs one to have some skills. While this should be the case, some learners face some challenges when connecting to class or when needed to follow the lesson smoothly.
  • Long hours on the screen. When learners are attending their classes, they are expected to be glued to the screen for long hours as all lessons are being taught through computers. If not using a computer, the students is forced to use a mobile phone which makes them struggle a lot reading and navigating to different pages as they take notes from the teacher. In any way, online lessons are causing stress and most of students who were not used to this style of learning have complained of headache and eye problems.
  • They are not able to participate fully like in a normal class. Audio and connection issues contribute to this.
  • The teacher might not be able to cater for slow learners. After online class, the learner has no other chance to engage with the teacher for the concept that was not well understood.
  • Ignorance of some of the parents who don’t care whether the child is learning or not. Technology to them is a bother and should not interfere with their busy schedule. In such a scenario, the learner is disadvantaged.

These challenges are making life difficult to both the child and the parents. See also 5 reasons why parent cannot stay with their children As the dilemma of when schools open continues, it seems that these challenges are not leaving us soon. Due to these challenges , parents asking , Should kenyan students seat for their national exams this year? Why business has been affected at Namanga -Tanzania border -Ciscas

The pandemic has made the smooth running of business at the border a bit hectic. Disagreement between Kenya and Tanzania on testing of corona virus has made the truck drivers spend days before they are cleared at the border. Some days ago, the two governments (kenya and Tanzania) tried to come up with a solution which is trying to work but not to the expectation of the traders.

The border used to be a busy place where even small business people were getting their catch. Fear of the novel virus has reduced the movement in and out of the neighbouring countries bringing a negative impact to the business sector.

Why I could not sleep-ciscasquapro

It is 12:50am…midnight or morning. Any way you may want to call it. I am supposed to be dead sleep by now, but here I am joining the dots.

I have been thinking why sometimes life is so unfair. Why some people are swimming in riches while others are drowning in poverty.

Others didn’t go beyond grade three and they own the best companies while some who have several degrees are still jobless.

Others started business from scratch and within a short time it became a big company while others still struggle to make theirs better even after years.

The list can go on and on till dawn, but my question still stands: why is life so unfair?

Why parents should mind some of their behaviours when with children.

Many times we tend to ignore the presence of children when we are discussing our parents-related issues. In the modern community, parents talk some sensitive issues and they assume that children are understanding nothing or they are not interested.

As much as we are eager to teach our children morals and values, they also learn a lot from what they see us parents doing. Children learn much through observation and parents should mind their behaviour when addressing to some issues especially if the children are with them. Let’s look at this scenario:

John was driving home accompanied by his 4year old child. While he was driving, his boy was playing a game using his phone. There was high traffic and everyone was struggling to get home before dark. As every market has a mad man, some drivers find it difficult to practise patience, so one driver drove past John using the wrong side of the road. He almost hit John’s car as he squeezed his car to find way out. When John so that, he shouted in anger, ” Stupid you mad man!” At all this time, his boy was busy playing with his father’s phone. After driving for a half an hour, another driver pulled out of the traffic trying to overlap. John was busy setting his radio and so he did not notice it. It wasn’t long before he was interrupted by his boy. ” Dad Dad! Look at that stupid mad man what he is doing over there.!” John was surprised not to say a word. He had not realized that he had become a perfect teacher to his boy until he heard it. He wondered what to tell the boy now that those were the same words he had used previously. He pretended to be busy but the son made sure that the father got the message. After realizing that the boy could not stop insisting, he said, “Leave him alone. Just continue with your game.” John continued with his journey but disturbed. He had realized that was not the best parent to emulate. He had Learnt his lesson and he decided to make a change in his character for the sake of his son.

a) If it were you what would you have done?
b) What type of character is your child getting from you?

So next time you act abnormally, take precaution. Your child may make the best duplicate out of you. Parents let’s try to be role models to our children. This will make it easier for us to guide their behaviour.

Impact of Covid 19 on traveling-ciscasquapro

Coming and going out of Nairobi has been prohibited for several weeks now. The pandemic has come with strict rules that people were not used to. Most people who come from counties neighbouring Nairobi had their program changed drastically.

Most of them used to go to upcountry every weekend which is not possible right now. They are left with the option of communicating through phone calls or social media platforms. The situation is so disappointing as many were used to visit their loved ones any time they felt like. No traveling now and Stay At Home – is the slogan that everybody should adhere to.Transport industry has also been affected especially those ‘matatus’ that were used to ferry people to and from Nairobi.

My life in the village- ciscasquapro

My life at the village was not that easy. I used to wake up before the sunrise, rush to the shamba to get nappier grass for our cow. This was a way of making it to produce more milk. After all, we needed this for our school fees and other expenses. I had to take the milk to the dairy farm that was seven kilometers away. No breakfast, there I go! The path passed through a forest and it was so scary all alone. On the way, I could hear sounds of animals which made me skip a heart beat. No matter the situation, I had to make sure I reach the dairy farm in time and with the milk intact.

The journey was sometimes delayed by some creatures who enjoyed their company along my path. I could not make a mistake of a show off as that meant the end of me.

I had to hide and watch from far or tempted to take another path which was also not so friendly as one was to go across the river through stepping of logs. Other days, we could find them swept by the water. So, no way was better than the other.

Dare not to disturb.

I vividly remember the day I came face to face with an elephant. As it was dark, I had not seen it neither had I heard any movement because it was standing still. Suddenly, it flapped it’s ears and that’s when I realized it was a stone throw from me.

Elephant on the way.

My legs glued to the ground as a cold chill ran down my spine. What I experienced within the first ten minutes is a story for another day. I stood speechlessly and carefully not to make any movement that could alert the animal…..catch the next episode just here at ciscasquapro… connect through the email for notification.
