Son kills four family members in kenya

The shocking news of a 22 year man kill father, mother, brother and a cousin using a knife had left many with unanswered questions.

At that fateful night, the son started by killing a worker who was within the compound. This made it easy to attack other members without interruption.

How he killed all these people is still a puzzle. What could have caused such great hatred that triggered him to eliminate almost entire family?

Only her two sisters who had reported back to school escaped the horrifying ordeal.

Could he be on hard substances? It is a sad story to tell. May be this son was stressed but nobody noticed or mentally disturbed. For now, it is hard to take sides.

Let’s be keen to notice slightest behavioral changes in our children. We may prevent the worst from happening.

What happens to Kenya pregnant teenagers as schools reopen

The long holiday of nine months has exposed the school going girls to more dangers. It was notice that there was a rise of teenage pregnancy where high numbers were recorded.

Some have even given birth. The education cabinet secretary recently announced that all children should be allowed to go back to class regardless of their situation. This was after the schools were reopened on 4th January.

This was not a guarantee that these girls would go back to school. Some said that, the were not ready to face the victimization from the age mates.

Some people argue that by allowing the girls back to school, it is like advocating for indiscipline among teenagers and it won’t be a good example to other school going children.

What is your take on this? Kindly share as you leave a comment.

Kenya public schools overwhelmed with students as schools reopen

Today being 4th of January, the schools gates are open again not only for the old students but also for everyone who wants to transfer the child due to different reasons.

The pupils in primary school were seen much excited to be back to school. Almost 90% of the students were present. This gives a clear picture that parents were either tired of staying with the children at home or they were well prepared.

Though all the learners were having their masks on, keeping social distance was an issue. As was seen in some schools, a teacher was to handle more than 50 children.

The government issued a statement that even teenage girls that got pregnant or gave birth should be allowed to go back to school.

Kindly keep in touch through a follow or a comment. Safiri salama! (Journey well) in the year 2021.

Schools reopen in Kenya – Ciscasquapro

After a period of nine months since covid 19 struck, the school are opening again. Some of the private schools have closed permanently. These parents will be forced to take their children to public schools which are already swollen.

Some parents have lost jobs and business to covid 19 making it difficult to pay school fees in private schools. These too will take their children to public schools. Without no doubt, the congestion that will be experienced in public schools will make it difficult for covid 19 guidelines to be followed especially maintaining the social distance.

Of late, the rift valley lakes have been swelling causing havock to the neighbouring community where some schools have been submerged completely. Parents will have to look for new schools to take their children.

Next Governor for Nairobi County

Kenyan politics have been taking a new perspective as those who have been accused of misappropriately handling public office have been thrown out of the offices.

The government isn’t leaving any stone unturned on cases related to corruption. This has caused impeachment of government officers including those in higher offices.

The Kiambu governor was one of the first governors to be impeached. Later the Nairobi governor is out too.

The interesting thing is that Honourable Waititu, former Kiambu county governor, who was impeached due to corruption cases now has been cleared to run for the governor seat to replace Honourable Sonko, former Nairobi governor.

Miguna Miguna who was exiled from Kenya and now lives in Canada is also eyeing for the same seat. He said recently that he will be running for Nairobi Governor position.

Will kenyans be willing to vote these people in? Still waiting to see how things will unfold. For more posts, see them here. For upcoming insights, remember to follow.

Effects of Elections on covid 19

I have noted with a lot of concern on how people adhere to the pandemic guidelines. People have been seen campaigning without maintaining social distance in Countries and counties which have held elections. Others don’t put on mask and if they do, they hang it on the chin.

My question is, why do rules seem to be taken for granted by both the citizens and the leaders when it comes to politics meetings? The leaders keep reminding us about the precautions yet to them, it seems that it is easier said than done.

If this leaders get infected with the coronavirus, not only are they able of visit the best hospitals but also they have enough money that may be needed for the treatment. But what about the normal person attending those rallies, if the worst happen, nobody will remember him. The vaccine may not get you alive.

It’s good we check on our health.

So let’s not forget to take care of ourselves because if we don’t, nobody will.

The girls who went missing

The stay at home for school going children has brought a big problem to teenagers’ parents. No matter how much they try to keep them safe, it becomes difficult as most of the time parents are out to make ends meet to better their families.

Teenagers are taking advantage of the situation. They are having enough time to do what they like most.

The worst comes with the use of cellphones which are used to make all the plans. To make it worse, the use of social media where these kids find people who are ready to prey on them. Without their knowledge, they find themselves in awkward situations which sometimes became very difficult to come out of.

Dating sites, nude pictures, drug use and other vices are introduced to them through the social groups. They do it too well that by the end of some chats, the kid is lured to all the evil plans.

I don’t demonize the social media, these phones are used for important communication too, like teachers do communicate through the class WhatsApp groups. Assignments, and online classes are done using the same.

The question is, how and where do we draw the line?

Six teenage girls in Nairobi were not spared either. They had been missing for about a week until yesterday when they were found.

As much as our girls are not innocent, they are still minors and those who are taking advantage on them should be brought to book!

Let’s protect the girl child!

What is your take? Kindly share it as you comment.

Why you should not practise Female Genital Mutilation(FGM) – Ciscasquapro

We have already seen what FGM is all about and its different levels.

The practice has brought a number of Health complications to girls and women. Let’s look at some of them:

  • Complications during child birth. The scar brings reduction of elasticity of the birth canal. Labour becomes longer and more painful with each subsequent birth
  • The hygiene during the procedure is compromised. Tools used are not sterilised between the procedure and this increases the chances of infection under exposure of HIV and AIDS
  • Girls with poor immune system find it hard to resist the infection hence compromising their health
  • Due to it’s confidenciallity, the girls are not allowed to access medical care should it be required.
  • The excess bleeding brought about by the rapture of clitoris may make the girls anaemic.

In kenya, the FGM act 2010 by Fred Kapondi prohibates the act of FGM.

The plane carrying Kenyan envoys to the funeral didn’t make it.

According to Daily Nation, a plane carrying Kenyan envoys to the funeral of former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa turned back to Nairobi because of bad weather, officials in Dar-es-Salaam said Tuesday.

Tanzanian Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation minister Prof Palamagamba Kabudi announced during the farewell ceremony of the former leader at Uhuru Stadium that Kenyan officials could not attend the event.

“We were expecting a special envoy representing President Uhuru Kenyatta, including Senator Samuel Poghisio, the Majority Leader of the Kenyan Senate, but we have received information that their plane was forced to turn back mid air,” Prof Kabudi told mourners gathered at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar-es-Salaam.

But Kenyan officials said the plane “developed mechanical challenges”, forcing it to turn back over Arusha.

Jane Kariuki, the head of public communication at the Foreign Affairs ministry, told the Nation that the Kenyan government was fully represented by the Kenyan High Commissioner to Tanzania Dan Kazungu at the funeral service.

Mkapa, who ruled Tanzania for from 1995 to 2005, died Thursday night aged 81.

On Sunday, his family said that the former Tanzanian president was suffering from malaria and died of a heart attack, scotching rumours that he succumbed to coronavirus.

“President Mkapa was found with malaria and he was admitted for treatment on Wednesday,” William Erio, a family member said during a funeral mass aired on State television.

His body will be transported to his rural home in Lupaso, Mtwara for burial scheduled Wednesday.

Mkapa was instrumental as the lead negotiator of the 2007-2008 post-election peace deal signed between former Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

What next for Kenya

Nairobi, Mombasa and Mandera in kenya have been under lockdown for sometimes now. Today, President Uhuru lifted the lockdown but maintained the curfew hours.

It is expected that most of the people who were locked in Nairobi will now find their way to rural area where they have really missed to be. Life at the city has been hard to many since the strike of the pandemic.

Some lost their jobs and they are unable to feed their families. They prefer sending children and wives to countryside where there is plenty of food.

The worry is, as this large number migrate from towns to rurals, there is a possibility of the virus spreading even more. Moreover, most of the aged parents are in rurals and they are at a greater risk contracting the virus as they welcome their relatives from town.

On the other hand, those in transport business will have something to smile for. People will rush to be out of town as soon as possible, therefore ,increasing their revenue. Since the Nairobi lockdown, most of the vehicles have been parked with nothing to do. You can also see my previous post on traveling.

Still waiting to see how things will unfold….feel free to leave a comment…Do visit my other posts here. For future post …. follow.

Rise of Teenage Pregnancies in kenya – Ciscasquapro

It has been a cry from most of the parents since the arrival of coronavirus pandemic. Being away from school for a longer period, it has inculcated to change of behaviour to some of the teenagers. The rising of teenage pregnancies in kenya is shocking with some of the regions recording very high numbers of adolescence pregnancies. You can also see why children are not safe

Just recently, the president ordered all Chiefs to take good care of teenagers within their jurisdiction or else they will be answerable if there are any reports of teenage pregnancies within their area.

This children are still young and their pregnancies may come with a lot of impact in their lives. One, their bodies are not fully developed to tackle challenges that comes with pregnancy. Secondly, the stigma they experience from peers and others may cause a lot of emotional harm leading to stress and thereafter depression.

These girls still have a future to take care of and adding a burden to their early age may shutter their dreams. It is unfortunate that some of this teenage pregnancies are brought about by well known relatives. This makes it difficult for the implementation of the law as the culprits are protected by the family norms. Others threaten the child and instil fear such that she won’t disclose the incident until when it is too late.

The stay – at – home directive has been a monster to the lives of many teenagers who are taking a lot of their time exploring the internet stuff. As they engage in online learning, they come across harmful information. At their age, they are ready to experiment anything. A scenario of the boy who impregnated his two sisters was too much for the mother to handle. It becomes hard dealing with some issues on teenage pregnancies as most of these issues are family related and so they are covered up.

The big question is, WHO IS TO BLAME? The society/community, the family, the parents or the children? Let us discuss it and try to reach to a conclusion. The chat is open. Leave a reply as you comment. As we try to stay safe from the virus, the girl child may not be safe! Stay put..get more insights here ….oooh..remember to follow me. I will make sure not to disappoint!

What will happen to patients of Covid 19 in Kenya – Ciscasquapro

It is sad that the country cannot support the covid 19 patients in public hospitals and therefore advocating for homecare based therapy. This may be a big task as a number of citizens might not be able to handle the patients. It can also lead to more spread of the virus. If the children are not safe from covid 19, how will it be possible for family members to take care of the victims without the required attire? Remember Impact of Covid 19 on traveling has contributed to so many other challenges. This means that family members cannot travel to visit their sick relatives of whom they are supposed to be taking care of. It is like the pandemic is not leaving us soon. According to how things are going, the numbers of affected people is increasing day by day. And if this continues, Should kenyan students seat for their national exams this year? The irony is, school were closed because of one case of Covid 19, now they are expected to be opened when the number is increasing. With this homecare based treatment, will the parents be able to handle cases of the virus in schools? I think this is an issue that need to be revisited.

Most of the learners in some of the developing countries are not gaining from digital migration that is taking place in most part of the world. Like in kenya, children from vulnerable backgrounds cannot afford purchasing smart gadgets leave alone paying for the internet. Moreover, most of the teachers who are supposed to teach the learners using the technology skills are also not well equipped.I am requesting all well wishers to join hands to assist this children and the teachers. The donations received will be used to buy necessary equipment and for teachers facilitation programs.

Impact of Covid 19 on traveling-ciscasquapro

Coming and going out of Nairobi has been prohibited for several weeks now. The pandemic has come with strict rules that people were not used to. Most people who come from counties neighbouring Nairobi had their program changed drastically.

Most of them used to go to upcountry every weekend which is not possible right now. They are left with the option of communicating through phone calls or social media platforms. The situation is so disappointing as many were used to visit their loved ones any time they felt like. No traveling now and Stay At Home – is the slogan that everybody should adhere to.Transport industry has also been affected especially those ‘matatus’ that were used to ferry people to and from Nairobi.
